My Menopause Journey

What is happening to me?

I had been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, I was doing all the right things (or so I thought).

My body was starting to hurt all the time, I wasn’t recovering from my workouts and my stamina was in the toilet.

I hadn’t changed a thing, but everything was changing

I was eating the same things and doing the same workouts, but my weight was steadily rising.

So I ate less, worked out more and soon I wasn’t sleeping, having anxiety attacks in the middle of the night and couldn’t focus on my job.

How could this be? I’m healthy, right…..

Up until about my mid 40’s my body could keep up,

I could drink wine with my friends, stay up all night and still get up, skip breakfast and workout the next morning.

My hormone shift changed all that.

I needed to rethink how to approach a body that no longer felt like my own.

I learned there was a difference between looking healthy with actually being healthy. Looking healthy may involve physical appearance or visible factors like weight and muscle tone, but true health went beyond the surface.

I dove into holistic nutrition, I studied at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and AFPA where I received my Holistic Nutritionist certification. However, it wasn’t until I studied at the Integrative Health Practitioner Institute, that I learned how to use labs to uncover imbalances and toxic overload happening in my body and apply supplement protocols to support the changes that were happening in my body and bring my body back to equilibrium.

It was my studies in genomics testing that really got me excited. Understanding how my body was geared to run helped me hone my healing practices and not waste time or money on what my body didn’t need.

I stopped wasting my money on the latest “super supplements” and fad diets and focused on what really worked.

This was quite a mindset reversal after years of striving for body transformation through intense workouts and strict diets, I had to learn that true health and anti-aging are not about constantly pushing my body to its limits. Instead, I embraced a whole body approach focusing on, improving my diet, reducing stress, detoxing my body, and prioritizing quality sleep and rest.

Once I brought my body back into balance, I not only found relief from various health issues like joint pain, fatigue and low energy but also discovered a newfound sense of confidence, vitality, and youthfulness that no amount of intense workouts could ever provide.

These are the tools that I now bring to my clients that are struggling as I was.

Becoming a certified Integrative Health Practitioner is the best way that I know to help others. Learning how other functional medicine doctors, naturopaths and Ayurvedic Practitioners brought their patient’s bodies back to equilibrium, I adopted their approaches that would help first my personal training clients, my family, my community and now the world achieve the same results.
